I’ve always been fascinated with guitars and have the deepest respect and same fascination for the many legends of lutherie who have lived their lives in search of their optimum sound.

This year marks 30 years since I built my first guitars. From 1977-1995 I constructed an array of acoustic flattops and a few electrics. Since 1996 I have made archtop jazz guitars and semi-acoustics exclusively.

Rather than patronize you with a litany of superlatives designed to best sell you on my instruments’ balance, tone, action, response, separation, etc…, I prefer to let the guitars speak for themselves. Speaking for myself – I love building guitars and take it very seriously, always intent on progression. I take pride in my work and in being a “meticulous son of a bitch”. I believe that with each guitar, I am building someone a new best friend.

Our 120 year old farmhouse, in which I construct my guitars, shares a property line with the world famous PEI Cavendish National Park, with its miles of sand dunes and beaches. I share a special “sense of place” that people from all Islands know and as such am pleased to name my 17” archtop model “Cavendish Road”…after the road at the end of our lane.
